Indian offspinner Harbhajan Singh has been officially reprimanded by the ICC match referee Andy Pycroft for kicking and damaging an advertising board after a misfield near the boundary during the first day of the second Test in Mirpur.

Harbhajan pleaded guilty to the Level 1 offence of the Code of Conduct which relates to "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings". Since he didn't challenge the verdict, there was no need for a hearing.

"While giving my verdict, I took into account that Harbhajan admitted his mistake and apologised for his actions," Pycroft said. "I also accepted Harbhajan's explanation that he had kicked the advertising board in frustration. Professional cricketers try to give their best effort when they are on the field and whenever they don't live up to the standards they have set for themselves, they feel disappointed. However, venting their frustrations in this manner is unacceptable.

All Level 1 offences carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of the match fee.
The MPs, who met the top leaders in the AICC on Saturday, declared that they would not go by the JAC deadline and resign from their posts, as they had complete faith in the high command on granting separate statehood for Telangana.

“The Telangana process is on and it will take some time to come out with a solution.
In Typical Telugu movie style, the Telangana tangle now has an “ antihero”. Union urban development minister S. Jaipal Reddy and senior Rajya Sabha MP Keshav Rao have been accused of “ sacrificing the cause for selfish gains”. Congress MPs and MLAs from Telangana, who are being pressured to withdraw their resignations demanding formation of a new state carved out of 10 Andhra Pradesh districts, are furious with the duo. Reddy and Rao are the only two Congress MPs from Telangana who have not sent their resignations to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

They attribute Reddy and Rao’s reluctance to not resign to their “ secret ambitions”. “ Reddy and Rao think that the Congress high command will make one of them the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh in the place of K. Rosaiah, as a sop for staying clear of the Telangana movement,” a Congress MP from Telangana said.

“Both of them keep saying they support the cause, but what is there to show for it? They have not even resigned.

Rao said he would resign, but he has only sent a representation.

They are our leaders and they have betrayed us,” another Congress MP said.

Reddy, on his part, said: “ I have never spoken on the Telangana issue, either in public or in private.” This statement has further discouraged the Telangana activists who had hoped that a Union minister with his kind of clout would throw his weight behind them.

A Congress MP pointed out that Union ministers from the other two regions of Andhra Pradesh including D. Purandeshwari, Panabalakshmi, Pallam Raju and Hari Pratap had publicly expressed opposition to the formation of Telangana, after Chidambaram had announced it.

“Why is it that only Jaipal Reddy finds it difficult to state his stand on Telangana, while his colleagues in the council of ministers don’t?’’ he asked.

Telangana activists pointed out that Reddy had claimed credit for the announcement of home minister P. Chidambaram on December 9 that the process for the formation of Telangana would begin.

“That day, Reddy said this announcement was the result of nine years of his agitation for the formation of a new state. But when the home minister diluted the Centre’s stand, Reddy said he had never been consulted and he didn’t know anything about what is going on. If he doesn’t lead the fight, who will?” a Telangana activist asked.

Sources said that Reddy had problems even visiting his constituency Hyderabad in public view, as people were unhappy over his lack of visible support to the Telangana cause.

“He comes quietly and goes back without informing anyone that he has visited his constituency. He has no option but to keep a low profile,” sources said.

Congress MPs, ministers and MLAs are unhappy that even the Andhra Pradesh Congress committee chief D. Srinivas, also from Telangana, has not fought with the high command for a separate state.

“Our leaders are not united, unlike those from other parts of Andhra Pradesh. So, though we have come so close to achieving our goal, we have not been able to get it,” another MP said.

So much is the resentment against Reddy that even his food menu for an annual media bash was accused of being biased against Telangana.

Rahul Gandhi is being regarded as the great young man of Indian Congress at present. He traveled in Hyderabad when YSR was alive and stopped visiting the place ever since he died in copter crash.

But Rahul has been carrying big dream to revive Congress in Tamil Nadu and bring a great glory to it. Rajiv Gandhi, his father was killed in the same state at Perambadur in 1991. Keeping that aside, he wants to build a big voters’ fort for Congress in TN. He traveled all over the state but failed to impress the people with his speeches.

On a whole, the entire Tamil media declared that Rahuls’s attempts to sow seeds of Congress in Tamil Nadu proved vain. When the legends like Karunanidhi and Jayalalitha are alive in Tamil Nadu, the story of Congress may not start at all in the place, say many.

Even the rate of enrollment to the state Youth Congress has nosedived. It appears Rahul has learnt the hard way that resurrecting the Congress in Tamil Nadu, where the party has been out of the seat of power since 1967, could only be a pipe dream

Karunakar (Ravi Teja), Malli (Naresh) and Chandu (Shiva Balaji) are close friends and each of them has individual goals. Karunakar is in love with his maradalu (Priyamani) but his uncle wants him to get government job first. Malli dreams of flying off to foreign land as soon as he gets passport, while Chandu aims to set up Computer training centre and is also in love with Karunakar’s sister (Abhinaya). They enjoy life spending together and have blast of time. Karunakar’s friend Santosh (Surya Teja), son of a politician (Roja) enters into the scene. He loves his family’s arch rival's daughter. Now all these friends come forward to bring the love birds together against all odds and in the process Karunakar loses job and misses his maradalu, Malli loses his hearing, and Chandran has his leg amputated. 10 days later, the married lovers seek divorce. These friends, who sacrificed so much to unite them, now teach them a lesson.

Analysis

Shambo Shiva Shambo is remake of Tamil hit film, Nadodigal. Samuthirakani who also directed the original has remade it. The basic plot line – A real friend will be there for you – is interesting and novel. True to the unique idea, the movie starts off rather promisingly. Indeed, till the interval, it is very engrossing. Thereafter, it suffers from lethargic pace, non-happening scenes and weak climax. The director has tried to convey the message that ‘friends always go against all odds to help their friends’ love but the lovebirds are not valuing it and failing to nurture their relationships after love succeed’. Unfortunately, this message has not translated onto the screen rightly, instead we get the feeling that the director is trying to tell us that if frieelp lovers, their life would be spoiled.

No doubt, it is a realistic film on the friendship but the screenplay and the situations don’t really suit the tastes of Telugu audiences. More so, the second half looks more like a TV serial. Added to these, dull dialogues and unimpressive songs have further spoiled the show.

Performances

Ravi Teja in the lead role has given apt performance. He is the main strength to the flick. Among other actors, Allari Naresh ’s comedy and his performance stand out. Shiva Balaji and Priyamani are okay. Newcomer Surya Teja, the lover, has done neat job. Sunil and Krishna Baghavan in brief roles provide laughter. Rest of the cast like Tanikella, Roja, Kota, Ahuti, Sudha and others have done justice to their characters.

Among the technical aspects, Muttaih’ s camera work is appreciable. Editing is weak; the editor should have trimmed the movie for at least 20 minutes. Sundar.C Babu’s songs are nothing much to write about except title song. Director Samuthirkani has proven his 'intelligence' in pre-interval scenes.

Bottom-line!

Concept wise, Shambo Shiva Shambo has novelty. Even the first half is entertaining and interesting, only after the interval it completely goes wrong track. On the whole, it is okay film but it could have better movie if the director has concentrated on second half

Mukesh Rishi was evil as usual, Sunil was loud but managed few smiles, Ahuti Prasad was average, Tanikella was neat, Sudha Rani was as per standard. The others didn’t have much to contribute.

Roja appeared in a mother role (mother to Ravi Teja’s friend) as an Ex-MP and her performance is just so-so.

Krishna Bhagawan is the only saving grace for the movie that could spill some laughs on a whole.

Despite the presence of an extremely talented star cast, the film has not been able to appeal much. Technically also, the film lacks luster.

Music could have been better and the sound track didn’t help the confused tempo of the movie.

One can see that ‘Tamil Paityam’ which is usually ‘over’ as per the Telugu standards. The dose of sentiment and the overdose of emotions are something hard to digest

One can see that ‘Tamil Paityam’ which is usually ‘over’ as per the Telugu standards. The dose of sentiment and the overdose of emotions are something hard to digest

Story: Kona Venkat
Cinematography: Chota K Naidu
Editing: Gowtham Raju
Art: Anand Sai

Produced by: Vallabhaneni Vamsimohan

Rating: 3/5

Chari (NTR) is an assistant poojari to Bhattacharya (Brahmanandam) and performing poojas on religious activities is their livelihood. Thinking of marrying the beautiful Chandralekha (Nayanatara), who lost her father, Bhattacharya acts as savior to her family but she loves Chari eventually. On other hand, there is Narsinha or Narsi in short (NTR) who steals money from gangsters and hands over it to a police officer (Shayaji Shinde) who promised Narsi a post in police system. Narsi also romances with this police officer's daughter (Sheela). As things progressing with comic scenes, suddenly it is revealed that a Don (Mahesh Manjrekar) in Kolkota in on the look out for Narsi. Why this Don want Narsi and how Chari and Narsi, both estranged twins, meet forms the rest of the film.

Analysis

Adhurs is unpretentious masala film with emphasis on comedy. For the first time in his career, NTR does lengthy comedy episodes with Brahmanandam and has succeeded. Some really funny scenes and hilarious moments shot between NTR and Brahmanandam in the first half are the major asset to the movie in an otherwise regular commercial formula film. If you have seen films like EVV's Hello Brother, Rakesh Roshan's Krish and Akshya Kumar's Singh Is Kingg, you ma strive hard to find anything new in this film, but director Vinayak has tried put old wine in new bottle. After Krishna, he has once again put Brahmanandam in main focus.

Songs, NTR- Brahmandam comedy, dual characters (NTR) dancing in one frame, NTR's performance as Chari are appreciable. On the downside, post interval the film goes haywire. Entire second half missed the track and thereby lessened the impact of entertainment. Also the climax is a big letdown. Tacky visual effects in the climax and bad cinematography completely marred the movie in the end. Director Vinayak should also have taken care in the selection of heroines opposite NTR.

Performances

NTR appears in two different roles and he has given an extra dimension to the character of a timid Brahmin and steers it to the winning post. His dances are also good, despite injuring severely in an accident in the midst of film's shooting. The second role that that he has done is very typical of NTR's past films. Dialogue delivery has always been NTR's strength and he has used it best for the role of Chari with typical accent. NTR should hire a specialist in fashion to design his costumes if he wants to connect with the youth. His costumes in the film are pretty bad.

Brahmanandam gets lengthy role and like always he is the strength to the film.. In many scenes, it is actually Brahmanandam who brought zing.

The film lacks glamour quotient despite presence of Nayanathara as she looks older to NTR and their pairing seems very odd. Sheela is there to bare her skin and she does all the justice to it. In other important roles, Raghu Babu, Nasser, M.S and Mahesh Manjrekar shine. Music by Devi Sri Prasad is good but not that rocking. Of the songs, Chandrakala..Chandrakala and Adhurs Adhurs are the best.

Cinematography by Chota K Naidu is quite ordinary. Dialogues are really funny in some scenes. Director Vinayak has not delivered his best but has tried to balance the comedy with action to some extent. The film's screenplay in the second half doesn't have zing and climax is tacky.

Bottom-line

NTR and Brahmanandam's comedy is good. You can watch it for once for those hilarious moments between these two actors. But again, it is not perfect masala entertainer. On the whole, Adhurs is an okay movie.

Film: Namo Venkatesa
Rating: 3.5/5
Cast: Venkatesh, Trisha, Brahmannadam, Dharmavarapu, Kasi Viswanath, Jaya Prakash Reddy, Mukesh Rishi, Subbba Raju, Surya, Prithvi, Master Bharat, Surekha Vani, Telangana Sakunthala etc
Banners: 14 Reels Entertainment, Suresh Productions
Music: Devisri Prasad
Cinematography: Prasad Murella
Editing: M R Varma
Story, screenplay, direction: Srinu Vytla
Producers: Achanta Ram, Achanta Gopichand, Sunkara Anil
Release date: 14th Jan 2010

Victory Venkatesh has paired up with Srinu Vaitla this time and the expectations obviously went high. With the title also catchy, this was a promising flick, how good is it, let us see

Story:
Venkatramana (Venkatesh) is a ventriloquist by profession and his only problem is marriage. He goes to European Telugu Association celebrations as a performer and encounters some interesting people there.

He is waiting for his dream girl to come. She comes in the form of Pooja (Trisha) but then, her uncle Paris Prasad (Brahmanandam) who is a manipulative kind of person creates a drama just for fun and convinces Venkatramana that Pooja is in love with him.

Meanwhile, Pooja’s marriage gets fixed with Bhadrappa (Subbaraju), the hardcore factionist and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Venkatesh
It was a Venky show all the way and he has shouldered it responsibly. However, the looks of age are showing on him and even his reflexes lack that emotion. Overall, he did a good job.

Trisha
Unlike in ‘King’ where she looked healthy and bright, Trisha looks quite dull and shrunk. Also, her character doesn’t have much to perform except be there on the screen and for the songs. So, not much hard work from her.

Brahmanandam
His character was developed well and Brahmi did justice to it in a good way. Some scenes emit a lot of hilarious moments and others could have been developed better. He scored good in this one.

Others
Mukesh Rishi was regular, so were Jayaprakash Reddy, Kota, Subbaraju and others. Ali was not upto the mark, M S Narayana was good as usual, Dharmavarapu and Kasi Viswanath generated few laughs, the others like Surekha Vani and Master Bharat were there for brand value but more could be extracted from their end. The ladies also had the same effect in terms of performance and contribution.

Highlights:

Venkatesh dancing for songs Allu Arjun’s ‘Mr Perfect’ and ‘Ringa Ringa’ brought laughs in theaters
Vehicle chasing is a visual treat
Dog chasing is a mass entertainer
Disappointments:

Music
Lack of sufficient rib tickling dialogues and situations
Analysis:
The movie is a storehouse of entire Srinu Vaitla battalion again. The standard cast and crew he maintained for his previous films is seen in this entertainer as well. The concept is just an old wine in new bottle but the shape of bottle could be more interesting. The laughing riot is not worked to the level of his earlier entertainers. Brahmanandam is used well but the dose of script is a bit weak. Master Bharat who is a standard comedy star in Srinu Vaitla’s films is also not fully utilized.

First half of the movie is entertaining but the interval bang conveys something very interesting is waiting in second half. Even the interval liner is ‘Get Ready for Real Game’. But the game is very well in predictable limits. The movie stands out to be a wonderful entertainer for the audiences those didn’t watch ‘Dhee’ and ‘Ready’. But in comparison ‘Namo Venkatesa’ of Vaitla scores little less.

Music could be better to bring better mileage for the film. On a whole it’s a family entertainer for this Sankranthi season.

Its Enjoy....
